DOT joins the challenge
Some 75 diabetics from the Department of Tourism (DOT) Manila head office took the Charantia 30-Day Challenge (July 4 – August 8, 2007) and learned firsthand how a healthy lifestyle can improve their blood sugar level. Headed by Dr. Amparo Cabrera, company physician, the DOT ‘challengers’ reported various positive results after following the program, from slashing off a few waistline centimeters, to feeling more active and achieving a more stabilized blood sugar level. One diabetic participant was even inspired to stop smoking after trying the healthy lifestyle plan; while another was featured on a popular morning TV show. Fely Daguio, executive assistant at the DOT, narrated how her blood sugar dipped from 129 mg/dl to 106 at the end of 30 days of healthy lifestyle.
“I was glad to have joined the Charantia 30-Day Challenge because I learned how to eat right and exercise regularly,” she said, reflecting the opinion of most of her fellow challengers at the agency.
